Account Associate


The account associate is responsible for supporting account leaders to ensure timely completion of client projects and other deliverables. This position is based out of our Cleveland, Ohio office.


  • Supports the day-to-day public relations responsibilities of assigned accounts, works with account leaders to complete various projects and ensures client satisfaction
  • Understands clients’ businesses, and researches market and industry trends impacting clients
  • Supports media relations campaigns via development of strategic media lists, editorial calendars, media briefing materials and creative story angles
  • Develops relationships with key media and social influencers
  • Writes a full range of materials including creative briefs, news releases, pitches, social content, client correspondence and reports, and research analyses
  • Manages traditional media and social discussion monitoring services to meet clients’ needs and may develop monitoring reports
  • Contributes to the development, execution and measurement of social media campaigns; may manage social media channels on behalf of clients
  • Develops and executes social media content against strategies to increase engagement with target audiences and convey key messages
  • Stays up-to-date on social media trends to provide recommendations to account team about how social media channels can best be used
  • Writes background materials, assists in development of client presentations, helps implement account programs and is comfortable maintaining regular contact with clients
  • Assists in developing and executing events, including managing logistics and associated budgets
  • Moves projects from initiation to completion effectively and efficiently
  • Assists with coordination of and contributes to internal and external meetings
  • Assists with new business development efforts
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the entire marketing and communications landscape in order to support clients’ integrated marketing and communications programs
  • Supports the organization by adhering to consistent standards for client financial performance, including timely input on projected work, billing, and other administrative duties
  • Ensures agency values of collaboration, engagement and trust are adhered to across all client projects and deliverables


  • BA/BS in public relations, communications, journalism or related fields
  • 0-3 years of previous public relations experience, preferably in an agency setting
  • Strong critical thinking, research, project management, communications, writing, presentation and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency using AP Style, Cision and/or Gorkana is preferred, as well aptitude using major social media applications, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Solid media relations and social media experience in an internship or professional setting
  • Proven understanding of marketing and communications, social media and online and traditional media
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multitask and balance priorities
  • Ability to take initiative and embrace assigned responsibility; works independently and in team settings
  • Ability to manage conflicts and difficult situations
  • Excellent attention to detail, including proofreading and proper grammar
  • Ability to travel – approximately 15% travel may be required (majority of travel is between agency and client location, as well as between agency locations)
