Assistant Director, Advancement Video and Digital Outreach

Kent State University is seeking a talented professional to create and execute videos and other relevant digital content tools to expand alumni and donor communications and programs for the Division of Institutional Advancement. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Advancement Communications.

The essential functions of this position are:

Create and execute videos to support Institutional Advancement programs and increase affinity with alumni and donors; including storyboarding, shooting and editing video content for website, social and electronic communications in a high quality manner that is consistent with the university’s image and brand.

Work with advancement communications project managers to create video marketing strategies on behalf of schools and divisions across campus for alumni and donor outreach projects.

Recommend and oversee alternative digital methods for delivering programming, volunteer training and communications including the use of webcasts, live streaming, web/video conferencing and other distance-based technology.

Support the annual planning process for advancement communications teams, including goal setting and budgeting.

Assist in developing strategies for divisional digital communications.

Create, develop or secure all assets related to video production, including music, voiceover, visual graphics, etc.

Direct talent through on-screen and voiceover performances.

Produce multiple versions of videos as needed for each platform.

Manage the division’s multiple YouTube channels.

Manage the videography data storage system, ensuring proper archiving, organization and redundancy of all video footage, projects and related media.

Maintain and service all video equipment.

Research and recommend relevant production equipment, software and services in order to take advantage of emerging technologies, trends and enhancements in the video production industry to ensure the quality of the division’s video content remains competitive.

Create complimentary motion graphics to enhance video quality.

Capture still photos for companion social and digital projects.

Provide assistance with management of outside video production projects.

Provide training/feedback sessions to campus clients regarding video projects.

Serve as a liaison to various committees across the department, division and university.

May supervise students and volunteers, and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis throughout the year.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in video/media, broadcast production, journalism, or related field. Two years of video production experience including directing, shooting, lighting, editing, sound recording, interviewing and project management. Or the equivalent combination of education and experience equal to at least six years of video production experience including directing, shooting, lighting, editing, sound recording, interviewing and project management. A proven track record of producing successful promotional video content for clients is preferred.
