Manager of Marketing and Communications

Kamm’s Corners Development Corporation is the non-profit community development corporation serving the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland since 1977.

The Marketing and Communications Manager, reporting to the Executive Director, will have broad responsibilities across print and electronic communications, and marketing spectrums, with the overarching goal of developing and increasing positive brand awareness of the West Park neighborhood, as well as the development corporation itself. Immediate responsibilities will be to work closely with the staff and Board of Trustees to re-brand the organization and the neighborhood of West Park we serve.

Current programming under the direction of the Marketing and Communications Manager includes:

Kamm’s Corners Magazine 
Create content, sell advertising, and edit a 32-page quarterly magazine with a current print run of 11,000 copies. Manage the associated mailing list. Layout is currently outsourced, but could be brought in house. Promote and highlight our activities, as well as that of neighborhood residents, businesses and institutions.

Email Marketing
Create content and publish a bi-monthly e-newsletter for the development corporation, and a seasonal weekly e-newsletter for the Kamm’s Corners Farmers Market. Create content from neighborhood sources to promote programs and events created by the development corporation and others. Manage associated Constant Contact databases. Increase subscribers.

Social Media Management
Engage neighborhood residents and other stakeholders via social media platforms currently including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Promote the organization as the primary resource for official neighborhood information. Increase and measure audience reach and engagement.

Website and Content Marketing
Maintain and improve the development corporation website with current and relevant content. Incorporate new content as necessary. Increase utilization through SEO, social media integration, and other methods.

Media Relations
Principally press releases and advocating for coverage of neighborhood events and activities.

Measure Success
Develop methods and track metrics to measure success. Exceed goals within the CDBG contract with the City of Cleveland.

Other Duties
Work with the Executive Director and/or appropriate committee(s) of the board to:

  • Manage and increase Business Membership and Friends of Kamm’s Corners
  • Take photos for use on the website and social media
  • Develop posters and flyers for neighborhood events
  • Liaison marketing opportunities with the Kamm’s Area Special Improvement District
  • Assist with content marketing in the Live Cleveland edition of Cleveland Magazine
  • Develop ads for insertion in event programs and consider sponsorships of neighborhood events
  • Seek sponsorship and partnerships for KCDC events
  • Work with the Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator to maximize and coordinate our marketing and communications efforts with residents and institutional partners across West Park.
  • Respond to and refer communications from area residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Communications or a closely related field, and 3 plus years of direct marketing/communications work experience; excellent organizational skills, computer proficiency (especially WordPress), excellent written communications skills, and will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends. Previous non-profit experience and West Park residency is a plus.

This is a full time position, with health and retirement benefits. The salary range is $35-$40,000, and is commensurate with experience.
