Volunteer Spotlight: Ruth Wisniewski

October’s Volunteer of the Month is Ruth Wisniewski. Ruth is the VP of Membership. She is in charge of tracking new and returning members, communicating member needs with the rest of the board, coordinating with the AMA national office, and keeping apprised of the general membership for the entire Cleveland Chapter. Ruth’s current project with the AMA is the Fall 2015 New Member Acquisition Campaign, which is keeping her quite busy!

Who are you?

I am the Marketing Manager at State Industrial Products. We’re a business-to-business chemical manufacturer based here in Cleveland with almost 500 account managers throughout North America. We sell environmentally friendly cleaners, maintenance products, and water treatment.

I graduated from Baldwin Wallace University (though it was Baldwin Wallace College then) with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. Currently I am pursuing my Masters at Case Western Reserve University.

What is your position within the AMA?

VP of Membership

Why did you join the AMA?

I joined the AMA to stay on top of trends and best practices in marketing

What do you love about volunteering?

The energy. The volunteers at the AMA are passionate about their craft. You don’t get that everyday and I appreciate it because it inspires me to be a better marketer.

What are your hobbies?

I love to run. My limit is a ½ Marathon and I’m pretty happy with that distance. I just completed the Chicago Half Marathon in September. I’ve run the NYC ½ Marathon, Toronto ½ Marathon, Austin ½ Marathon, DC 10-Miler and of course, Cleveland and Akron.

I also enjoy trying new restaurants and visiting the local museums.

What are three interesting facts about you?

I have 3 beautiful children.
We just adopted a Siberian Husky puppy.
Serious coffee addiction.

What are your career and/or personal ambitions?

I want to finish my Masters degree and continue to grow in my field.
