Volunteer Spotlight: Georgina Karim

Georgina Karim is the Northeast Ohio Director of Venue and Experience. She is a proud member of the AMA and has worked in marketing since graduating from Cleveland State University. She is married to Northeast Ohio VP of Volunteers Eric Barnett.

The first two questions will be the basis for the introduction for the VOTM on the newsletter.

What is your Volunteer Position?
Director of Venue and experience.

What types of activities are you in charge of?
I am primarily in charge of choosing venues and creating menu choices for events.

Who are you?
I am a Cleveland State graduate with my degree in Finance and Marketing. I am current the Marketing and Event Coordinator at Velvet Dog which is located on West 6th street in downtown Cleveland. I am currently working on helping and organizing a scavenger hunt fundraiser for the Cuyahoga Animal Shelter. It is a great organization and they help rehabilitate dogs that are found hurt on the streets or that come from abused homes.

What is your position within the AMA?
Director of Venues and Experience

Why did you join the AMA?
I love the organization and meeting and networking with new people from the Cleveland area.

What do you love about volunteering?
I love donating my time doing the things I enjoy most. I also love that I get to help find unique venues in Cleveland and sharing them with everyone.

What are your hobbies?
Volunteering & Crafts

What are three interesting facts about you?

  1. I am 100% Lebanese
  2. I am bilingual. I speak both English and Arabic
  3. I have a strong dislike for Bacon

If you could be one character in Mad Men (or any other television show) who would it be?
Peggy.

What are your career and/or personal ambitions?
Still working on it. 😉
